Those girls returning from last year were: Betty Shelton, Betty Finn. Jeannie Ryan. Sandra Walker. Carol Walker. Hazel Gilbert. and Marilyn Stevens. Connie Sharples was again chosen mascot. Uur Cheerleader Rally was November. The auditorium was gaily decorated in our school colors, red and black. Approximately 25 cheers were exhibited and following a dance was held. Gretchen Mason was our substitr' Leerleader. Mr. Avery was our Advisor. We competed in the Southeastern lu league Cheering Contest Klart-h ll in Ray- mond. I 1 I Mr. Landroche, Albert St. Laurent, Jacques Gagnon. Owen Russell, Philip LaBranche, Eliot Bnsinger, William Byron, Richard Hazeltine. CROSS-COUNTRY The boys of Newmarket High started their fourth year under Coach Landroche and with many meets coming up, started right to work as school opened. The season was very successful as the boys lost only one race to Class NAU Dover. The boys ran good races but sorely missed George Walker and Richard Caswell. Some of this slack was taken up by two seventh graders, Bobo,, St. Laurent and Richard Hazeltime, which we expect to be around for quite some time. Jacques Gagnon, Eliot Bosinger, and David Noon were always up in the five nearly the whole season. Due to inexperience we came in third at the state meet after wining the Cham- pionship the two previous years.
