The first meeting of the Student Council was held on September 22, under the direction of Mr. Stone. our new advisor. The first order of business was to elect officers who are as follows: President. Phil Labranch: Vice President. Robert Morin: Secretary. Marilyn Stevens. and Treasurer, Sandra Walker Our activities started with the sponsoring of the Freshman Initiation and Reception. With the assistance of Mr. Avery, the Social Calendar was drawn up. The Council also sponsored some dances in the auditorium during noon time. The Student Council did a few very worth-while charitable deeds. They also voted for some very excellent improvements for the student body. As last year the Student Council took charge of noon-time proctors in the two main lunch rooms. This certainly was a very successful and functioning club this year.

The Lamprey Chapter of the National Honor Society held its first meeting in September. The following officers were elected: President, Patricia Rooneyg Vice President, Laura Johnstong Secretary, Marilyn Stevens. Since there were only three members, Seniors were chosen to assist on Student Patrol. A new program was initiated this year. The members of the society took charge of the student assemblies. Each member being responsible for a different class. During the year additional members were taken in. One of the most important organizations in Newmarket High School is the School Service Club. Under the direction of Miss Wood and Mr. Avery. we help to carry out some of the important duties around school. There are no officers as everyone serves on an equal basis. The members of this club act as office girls and librarians.
