FOOTB XI L CLontrnuedD Newman recery ed the krck off and rmmedrately took the ball to Arco las 30 yard lrne where Grrffrth on a cut back play scampered oyer the goal lrne Thrs play was that famous old 16 as all on the team would remember rt The goal krck was missed and the score was 6 to 0 The half ended wrth this score In the thrrd quarter by lrne plunges of Hance Wax and Wrese Newman agarn worked the ball to Arcola s 30 yard lrne where Gr rffrth took the ball for another cut back for a touchdown Hance kicked the goal In the fourth quarter after an exchange of punts Hance took the ball over for another counter from the three yard lrne The krck for pornt was mrssed The game ended wrth Buckler rn possession of the ball on Arcola s 1 yard lrne after receryrng a 40 yard pass and berng forced out of bounds The final score was Newman 19 Arcola 0 The Arcola team outweighed Newman but could not compare wrth made 298 yards from the lrne of scrimmage while Arcola made only 20 HINDSBORO OCTOBER 19 The Newman Hrndsboro game was postponed on account of rarn untrl the next week but when the next week arrived rt was as muddv and rarny as ever so they lust played anyhow The game was slow on account of the rarn and mud and the first half ended wrth the score 6 to 0 rn favor of Newman Hance makrng the touch down on returnrng a poor punt from the '50 yard lrne In the last half the Newman eleven got the hang of thrs Water Polo Football game and every backfield man got the opportunity of makrng a touchdown before the game was oyer Only one goal for pornt was kicked during the game due to moisture on the ball so the game ended wrth the score 20 to 0 rn Newman s fay or ATWOOD OCTOBER 23 New man defeated the Atwood team 19 to 0 at Atwood rn a game which was rather slow due to the fact that Newman had a sllght attack of that contagious drsease called over confidence Doc Wax took the ball over for the first touchdown rn the first quarter and before the half closed Hance went over for another from the 5 yard lrne after a serres of lrne nrashes and end runs by Wax Wlese and Grlffrth The last touchdown was made rn the fourth quarter on a long pass to Buckler over the goal lrne Only one of the three tries for points after touchdowns was counted due to Newman s being offsrde There was a Pg Ffty h l ll 'if Q f g lr ...- - A A All 7 '- v .
