Dedication During his fourteen years as superintendent of schools, Newman Smith has earned the respect and love of members of the community as he has endeavored to build a school district known for excellence . It is due to his effort that this highschool has become a reality as an edifice devoted to leaming. The 1976 yearbook staff is proud to be part of a school named for a man such as Mr. Smith and wishes to dedicate the first issue of The Iliad to him . The world, our lives, and our identities are all composed of a kaleidoscope of such things. Every mood, each experience , is important in shaping our world . These feelings and encounters, once past, cannot be relived but can be remembered throughout the years. The members of The Iliad staff chose the theme Kaleidoscope because it best describes the various moods, events, and emotions of this first year. The color of joy, the sound of laughter, and the occasional confusion and pain of anxiety, mixed with scores of other emotions, are an everlasting kaleidoscope .
