Excuses seem to be the order of the da for at least 25 or 30 Newman High .,,,,.,a-.- Y School students every day as they face Ben Brock, assistant principal. Mr. Brock completes his second year as assistant to the principal, and finishes his seventh year as journalism teacher and publica- tions director. Keeping attendance rec- ords, scheduling, and assisting the prin- cipal in general, are duties of Mr. Brock. KEEPING THE FILES Among the duties of office girls Shirley Whit- worth and Beverly Pruitt, as they go about their daily work, is helping Mrs. Billy Savage, secre- tary to the principal. These girls earn non-academic credits in this manner, as well as receiving practi- cal office training. ew!!

Mrs. Savage sells cafeteria tickets, keeps of- fice files, and advises student helpers ay part of her daily routine. Mr. White's sincere efforts and efficient work have greatly contributed to the standing and prestige of Newman High as a public monument. Mr. White is also an eminent church and civic worker. His friendly manner and individual traits serve as an inspiration and guide for students and teachers. X!
