4 G 'ss kirby kinsey dr. june young hudson lincoln 1. m. lawrence Receiving no pay, the Board of Education- seven men-meet on the second Thursday of each month with Superintendent Olaf South to act as the school systemis policy makers. The men, elected by local taxpaying citi- zens, represent several businesses and pro- fessions and have a good educational back- ground. With Superintendent South, the Board of Trustees has as its goal more and better schools and educational opportunities for the community's children. President of the Board this year is Wade Forester, elected by other trustees. C. E. Lambert is secretary. Other members are Hudson Lincoln, J. M. Lawrence, Dr. june Young, Kirby Kinsey, and Dr. A. N. ai 4 With a hand in several pies, one of the busiest men in Sweetwaterf Superintendent Olaf South-always finds time to be one of the friendli- est persons on and around the Mus- tang campus. The early bird head executive also served as Newman High School principal before becoming superintendent and can be found in his office early in the morning mapping out plans for improve- ment of Sweetwaterls educational system. Under Mr. Southis leader- ship, a large building program for Sweetwater school is underway. During the 1955-1956 school year, students moved into two new school buildings in Sweetwater-at New- man High and at P. Cowan Ele- mentary School. Mr. South, a member of the First Methodist Church and the Rotary Club, also holds membership in sev- eral other civic organizations, and is well known as a conscientious civic leader. ' eaatilope ' TYPING, FILING, AND GENERAL OF- FICE WORK are among the duties of Mrs. Caffey Welch, secretary to Superintendent Olaf G. South. Mrs. Welch serves the en- tire school staff, along with filling the sec- retarial position for Mr. South. A part of her duties is figuring and writing faculty and staff pay checks. 'W-1.-..,

V CHECKING UP ON SCHEDULES . . Mrs. Billy Savage, secretary to the prin- cipal, does a part of her daily work, as she prepares a new schedule file. Mrs. Savage sells cafeteria tickets, keeps of- fice files, and advises student helpers ay part of her daily routine. B I0 K Wikia? li WX During this school term, Prin- cipal john White completes his second year as Sweetwater High School's' administration leader. Mr. White's sincere efforts and efficient work have greatly contributed to the standing and prestige of Newman High as a public monument. Mr. White is also an eminent church and civic worker. His friendly manner and individual traits serve as an inspiration and guide for students and teachers. X!
