9: ill- Dorothy Hunter and R. S. Covey I Gloria Skillern and P. C. Lightfoot affix ' To My Students and Friends: It has been said that life be- gins at an ox-cart gait, and the further one goes the faster the tempo. Short has been the time since first we began this year's work under Autumn skies with shadows of war clouds, when we were anxious and apprehensive of events to come. However, it has been long enough to give its full share of joys and sorrows of hopes and disappointments, of victories and defeats, of person al sacrifices and acheivements, of learning, labor, love, ro- mance, friendship, and of all those human experiences that cross our pathways. I want to express my apprecia- tion to all of you for your con- tributions this year. May peace soon come to the world, and may success and happiness be yours. Your friend, If 1. fm ,,., jj :X 5.0, 4 A-f- 1 'ef Ross S. Covey To the Students of the School: This school year, no doubt, will be reflected through the years as having presented a definite challenge to the student body in helping the nation win the war through student activity partic- ipation directly related to the war effort. I am of the opinion that you will continue to meet that challenge until the Axis powers will witness their Ufinlsh. You are to be commended for your favorable accomplishments. It affords me great pleasure to commend the Class of 1943 for their valuable contributions, to congratulate the Yucca Glori- osa staff and their sponsor, since it is you who were instru- mental in making this annual a reality this year, and to express appreciation to our corps of teachers who have expended their efforts during this war crisis to make this a successful school year. Best wishes to all of you. Sincerely, E ' if r Prestpa C. Lighttooty
