BCDARD OF EDUCATION Left to right-standing: Dan G. Shields, vice-president, C. S. Perkins. Sitting: A. G. Lee, presidentg Marshall Pior, Dalton Moore, and R. S. Covey. Other members include John Pepper and Walter Baucum. The supervision of our school system is of vital interest to us. Just who is responsible for the efficient service in controlling and managing the Sweetwater Public Schools? The duty rests with the Board of Education-a board which sees that the students may enjoy the services of capable teachers, fine buildings, and excellent school grounds. To these capable leaders, who take time from their business to direct school affairs, we, the students of Newman High School, wish to express sincere appreciation. We are proud of our school. We feel that it is among the best in West Texas.

PRINCIPAL FA66'S MESSAGE To the Students of Newman High School: My introductory year in Newman High School has been a most pleasant one. I should like to express my heart felt appreciation for the most hearty cooperation both on the part of faculty and students. We have had the doubly interesting task of learning your customs out of school as well as studying your characteristics, attitudes, and ideals in school. We have found in Sweetwater the highest type of High School student body. After graduation here, may you keep the sense of loyalty, integrity, self-reliance, patriotism, and industriousness that you have acquired in your homes and upon which we have tried to build while you were in school. Congratulations and commendations to the staff for another excel- lent year book. This type of book justifies our high rating among the year books of Texas. Best wishes to you all, Your friend, R. C. FAGG. Miss Dorothy Langley, office secretary, and Principal R. C. Fagg

PARENT-TEACHERS ASS'N The Newman High School Parent-Teacher Association this year, as it has in the past, occupied a prominent place in sponsoring school activities for student education and enjoyment. Under the capable leadership of Mrs. Nelson and her staff of workers, aided by a commit- tee of students-Nisson Pearl, Bettye Brown, John McLaughlin, Carl Bardwell, Betty Lou Scott, and Towne-r Leeper-they have worked to- gether to make a better understanding among parents, teachers, and students. They have carried out the theme of the association-to pro- mote the welfare of youth in the home, the school, the church, and the community. ' V7 I. is ,, , uhm, at 5 357, . A lf wr!
