On a certain beautiful September morn, sorrow mounted in the hearts of the faculty of Newman. The school year of 1952-53 dawned. After attending Mass, the students returned to school, and they started the job of buying books and getting schedules straightened out. For the seniors, it will be a finale, for the freshmen a new experience begins. Students attend Mass of the Holy Ghost. Bob Hutton can't get Sister Clarice to reduce his fees. 8 .nf gs-f,,4, What's wrong, sophs? No appetite? Everyone gets into the act! Matt Grennan, guest speaker at the Father-Daughter Banquet, told at his personal experiences as the father of nine daughters. 9 A few knots to be untied. Barb Hutten seems to be having difficulty! After Newmanites have had time to review events ot the summer and upperclassmen have cast quizzical glances at nevv recruits, it is finally decided the freshmen will be Wel- come additions to the G.A.A. ff? 'uae I Bishop John J. Boylan officially dedicates Newman Center. Mayor Wetzel addresses friends and student body. The Newman Center was dedicated Monday, October 27, l952. lt houses a gym, library, cafeteria and recreation room. To date the gym is completed and is equipped with six baskets, modern lighting and score board and bleachers. Some years after the construction, our school changed to Newman High School. Bishop Boylon and Monsignor Burns altered the name at the Newman Center dedication ceremony.
