1968 GOLD AND BLUE Published By. . 1968 Gold and Blue Staff Newkirk High School Newkirk, Oklahoma The 1968 Gold and Blue is a publication of the students, by the students, and for the students, so that the memories of NHS shall not perish from their minds. The students who struggled here will little note, nor long remember what they did here, but will never forget what they learned here. This year- book then, is to enable the students to remember what they did here. Stephen Sheik: EDITOR Mrs. Minnie Simmons: SPONSOR Words cannot entirely express our appreciation to the Administration; however, the staff of ’68 wishes to express a simple SINCERE THANK YOU to our Superintendent and Principal. They have gone “beyond the call of duty” in their efforts to maintain the high standards of which the students of NHS are so proud. PRINCIPAL SUPERINTENDENT BOARD OF EDUCATION PRESIDENT John Warren VICE-PRESIDENT Leo Hazaleus CLERK Darrell Fulton The members of the NHS Board have successfully completed another year of supplying NHS with their time and effort, in giving us the kind of school we are all proud of attending. Brent Stahl, deep in seriousness Leslie Hinton salutes the class and with his Valedictory address. its guests in his Salutatory. Louis Strong, President of Kay County Electric Co. gave ‘68 seniors some worthwhile “gems” of wisdom to use as occasion arises. THIS IS OUR CHERISHED GRADUATION APPEARANCE Seniors of ’68 have always had a loyal, aggressive Board of Education to provide for their needs. Seniors Enjoyed Trip to Six Flogs One of the main attractions at Six Flags was the log ride. Even though some people did get a little wet, they had fun riding it. Though it was a long trip down there and most of the students were worn-out before the trip was over, it was a trip that will always be remembered. The tables at the Banquet were gaily decorated with white tablecloths topped with red streamers. A pair of chopsticks accentuated each individual setting. The main attraction at the Prom was a Wish- ing Well which was used as a background for many pictures throughout the night. The “Coachmen” provided the music and help- ed make the night of April 26 a night to re- member. For Juniors and Seniors Prom favorites Mike and Gerri. Seniors discuss the lovely decorations. Many people took advantage of the tables and chairs to relax. What ever happened to the waltz? Dancing to the music of the Coachmen.
