DICK MEEKS Football Captain Dick Meeks, Tiger left end, was one of the co-captains this year and was a very good one. He was a good pass receiver and one of the better defensive players. He was also the center on the basketball team. He also participated in track and baseball and was voted the best athlete of the year. SHELBY CRAWFORD Football Captain Shelby Crawford, the Tiger's left half back was a co-captain of the team this season. He was a good back and one of the fastest men on the team. TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONS Although without an impressive win-loss record, the Tigers made a good showing this season. Three of the most important games were: Tonkawa vs. Newkirk, in which the Tigers were behind at the half, but went on to win 38 to 35 — Garber vs. Newkirk, which was the first game of the NOJC tournament — and Lamont vs. Newkirk, the last game of the NOJC tournament, in which the Tigers pulverized the Lamont team. The annual went to press too early to include baseball and track, but the Tigers expect to actively participate in these two sports os well as basketball and football. He had a 15.7 points per game average which is very good. He had a total of 230 points for season. He was the quarterback on the football team and will pitch and play short- stop on the baseball team.
