Text from Pages 1 - 56 of the 1948 volume:

tftuoijo j( ) !jj] rrs trr m rmn u ns r J)n Yj ]emory .. . Do you wonder why his picture is placed here in the front of our annual? Well, we’ll tell you all about it. On that summer day back in 1946 when they told us of his farm accident, we were shocked and said it couldn’t be true--but it was. We miss him--his modest, quiet, lovable ways--we think the world of him. Since he can’t be here to graduate with us, we want to dedicate our annual to his memory. Senior Class of 194 To the seniors of 1948: Keep faith in yourself without which you cannot hope to succeed. The best preparation for good work tomorrow is to do good work today. Keep faith in your fellowman, as society is built on mutual trust. Keep faith in God, without which you cannot live in a real sense of security. The best preparation for life in the hereafter is to live now. Supt. of Schools First Semester Supt. of Schools Second Semester Subscribers of the Gold and Blue: I shall always remember the thrill that came to me the day I met you, the students of Newkirk High School. That thrill has remained with me through the weeks I have been with you. This space you have given me in your 1948 annual is another of the many, many things you have done to make me feel welcome in your school. I sincerely appreciate your attitude toward me, and I look forward to a happy tenure in Newkirk work- ing with you. You are a wonderful student body. C. E. Cowles, Prir Ind. Arts B. S. Mr. Little, horrified at the idea of Goody's running around with Ham suggests that she try going with Norman Peel, whom he considers about the most intelligent young man in town. Goody decides to invite Norman to dinner, partly to please her father, but mostly to make Ham jealous. Norman turns out to be the world's biggest nuisance and causes much confusion with the help of Filmer, the little 12 year old brother, and Henriette, Goody's roommate from col- lege. In the end Mr. Little decides that Ham isn't such a bad guy after all. Other characters who helped to make this play a success were Mrs. Little; Olita, the aunt; Almatina, the colored maid; Antoinette, Filmer's girl friend; Mrs. Harpeddle, Norman's rich aunt; Dicky, her son; and Miss Pologa, one of Mrs. Har- peddle' s dancers. 1st Row—Barbara Nell Brown (Faith Crabbe), Marijane Rupe (Hope Crabbe), Patsy White (Sally Parsons), Dessie Stonehocker (Mrs. Olivia Orkney), Shirley Richards (Ivy Lane), Frances Leven (Mamie McCorkle). SYNOPSIS OF FAITH, HOPE AND FLARITY” Faith and Hope, twin daughters of Quadlander Crabbe, a retired business man, had been going steady with Monty and Reggie Van Twiller, who were young fortune hunters. However, with the arrival of Patrick Flarity, an old side kick of Quadlander's, things began to happen.
