Superintendent's Message Class of 1940: Just as every Individual has personality, so each class has outstanding traits of behavior which give It personality. Your most notable trait has been an ability to get along well among yourselves and with those who have guided your education. Within the year that you have been seniors, Newington High School has grown Into a kind of school citizenship the administration has wished to see. In the complexity of interacting cause and effect you have had a constructive part In that worthy attainment. At the moment, our world neighbors are moved by brutal force and fear of force. We still believe that eventually world citizenship will prevail. Individuals and even nations can do little to change the mad course of events, but you can and will be good citizens In the community and nation as you have been In Newington High School. Class of 1940: In natural resources, the United States Is one of the richest countries In the entire world. Despite this fact, however, there Is growing among too many of our people a tendency to accept defeat. Years ago, under conditions as trying as those of today the Inhabitants of this area were not held back by defeatism. ’ The graduates of this class might do well to devote their physical and mental energies to the development of resourcefulness to counteract defeatism, thereby reviving the spirit that made the slogan Yankee Ingenuity world famous. Principal's Message
