HOWARD M. NYE Administrative Assistant Mr. Nye's guidance and hard work in so many phases of school life are greatly appreciated by the community, faculty, and the students. we Nm .V ,K s-.' .sw Ls- ': f bw' J sr F ,,. SUPERVISING PRINCIPAL: PHILIP SKEPS B. S. Fredonia State Teachers' College M. S. in Education Saint Bonaventure University, Allegheny, New York Uur Sacred Duty lf democracy is to survive, it is the task of men of thought, as well as men of action, to put aside pride and prejudice, and with courage and single-minded devotion--- and above all with humility--to find the truth and teach the truth that shall keep men free. With these words Franklin Delano Roosevelt placed upon the shoulders of all Americans, a sacred duty to see that the children of today may find, cherish and preserve this truth so precious to man. Must our schools carry the burden of this task alone? Of course not, the responsibility is a ioint one to be shared equally by Family, Church, School and Community. Every- one, old and young alike, must shoulder a portion of this responsibility to find the truth and teach the truth that shall keep men free. We must cooperatively use our talents to nurse the spark placed in the heart and mind of all men by our Creator, until it becomes the bright flame Eeded to guide us and others of the world to the full life of free men. We fail in this task unless we point out that the path is steep and stony. Freedom, although a right must be earned by each individual and shared with all men. Free- dom demands our wisdom, courage, strength and sacrifice. lt requires the unselfish, dedicated effort of all. Can we keep freedom alive in these days of struggle for men's minds? We can, we will, we must, for life with- out freedom, is nothing. As did the fathers of our Country, must pledge our lives and fortunes to this task.
