Tonight will be a Wonderful night, A night we have waited for, dreamed of. We shall tomorrow and tomorrow relive These moments. Now live them to the full For We can never return to this night, Never to this very night. We can never sit here like this again, Hear these Words again, See one another like this again. She was not only a teacher, but a friend willing to help anyone who needed it. She had a glowing personality which appealed to many, especially to the young. People respected and loved her. We cherish the memory of the three years in which we had the privilege of having her at Newfane Central School. 46 CORSER, JEAN QMRSJ lst Grade PUFF, JOAN QMRSJ lst Grade PHILLIPS, NORMA QMRSJ 2nd Grade FULLER, ANNE QMRSQ HARTLEY, NORMA KMRSJ Kindergarten Kindergarten Vcrtucci, Albert - Principal NEWFANE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL YA.. my , 'L xx fre ' x f GRAHAM, RUTH QMRSJ HYDE, NORMA QMISSJ LIDDELL, JOYCE UVIRSJ lst Grade lsr Grade lst Grade h K L. .,--1 X Q fs -N , . AMERICAN FIELD SERVICE Jens Peter Panthen left his home in Hildesheim, Ger- many with one hundred other students to make his home in Newfane, and become Newfane Central School's fourth Ameri- can Field service foreign exchange student. Jens adapted quickly to our American customs and was eager to express his ideas. A greater understanding was developed through informal everyday talks as Well as through arranged speeches with various groups in the community. We were fortunate to have Germany's excellent representative this year. The American Field Service Student Committee has the responsibility of raising the funds to bring an exchange stu- dent to Nevvfane and to make the student welcome in the school. This year We assisted the Adult Committee with the A. F. S. Apple Festival. An apple pie baking contest Was Won by Mrs. Harold Brandt. The elementary school and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Miller provided entertainment for the evening. There were talent performances by the queen candidates of which Susan Vary was the winner. The committee also presented a school party, Cupids Capers, in honor of Suki , a Japanese exchange student visiting Newfane from Orchard Park High School. The high- light of the evening was a dance contest in which Suki and Jens were the Winners. This summer Newfane will .be host to many A. F. S. students who are taking a final bus tour of the eastern United States before they return home. The committee will be instrumental in providing activities for the students and in- troducing them to the community. The 1964-65 school year has been successful and the committee is looking forward to next years' students and activities. Ruth Carman Day has left her mark on her school and community.
