A proud father, Mr Spaulding poses with Elizabeth on baptism Sunday in June 1984. dedication The 1988 Newrosean Stuff hos dedicated this year's yearbook to Mrs. Diana Spaulding. She has taught English at Newcomerstown since 1980 and has been Newcosean advisor since 1982. We feel she is very deserving of this due to the many hours she’s spent putting up with all of us. She has seen so many layouts that absolutely stunk, but she never hod the heart to tell us. Instead, she would just say to try if again. She’ll never know how much we appreciate her and the things she's done. The former Diano Blanc graduated from East Canton High School, attended Malone College ond received a bachelor's degree in English. She also received a MA in counseling from Walsh College and studied French at Laval University in Quebec. She was married in 1979 to Jeff Spaulding and moved to this area in 1980. Here they had their daughter Elizabeth who is now three. The Senior Class has roamed the hallways of NHS for the past four years. In that time many events took ploce which changed the lives of the students and helped them to mature. It seems like only yesterday they were freshmen getting lost, confused, and praying they would make it through the next few years. Being o sophomore was a step up. Ordering their class rings was the year’s highlight. Life as a junior was great, representing upperdassmanship and being almost at the top. Finally, they are allowed to go to the prom. Now, four short years after starting high school, they are seniors. The last few years hold many memories and experiences that will be treasured for the rest of their lives. These seniors will go out to a new world, seeking knowledge and placement in society. Upon graduation some students will go on to college, some will work, or maybe even travel, but all will remember NHS with fond memories. Good luck, class, in all your future endeavors. Abbuhl feels it's just too bright with the dims on. The Junior Class of 1989 presented, Somewhere Out There, Saturday evening, April 23, 1988. The mystery, the romonce, and the magic of Prom were felt by all. The colors red, block, and silver created an aura of mystique with the hundreds of balloons and streamers. Vickie Chaney and Mike Styer were crowned King and Queen. Crowned by the Junior Class officers, they danced their royal dance to the prom theme. They were selected by those attending the prom. Everyone danced the night away to “Sensational Sounds Unlimited. Exciting moments with tears of joy, loughter, good food, never-ending energetic doncing, and lots of flashbulbs were combined to moke the night. The post prom was a venture on the bus to the Skate Place in New Philadelphia. The students and faculty found many different things to keep them awake, including skating, foos-ball, dancing, movies, video games, pool, eating, and sleeping in the booths. This went on from 2 to 5 a.m. with breakfast being served at the Lions Den in Newcomerstown. Prom 1988 will be a night that will be treasured for years to come. Considering all the time and money spent, the night seemed to pass by quickly, but the memories will last a life-time. 128 Prom Shawn Rogers shows us the crab-walk while post-promming ol the Skate Place. The night is closing as Brian Porks and his date begin to drift into dreamland The Junior Prom, under the leadership of Mrs. Lerth, began in November 1987 with a select committee making suggestions. They then broke off into sub-committees to get down to the nitty gritty. Many hours and a considerable amount of the Junior Class treasury made this prom a success. On Thursday night, April 21, decorations began to go up — at least the stars and streamers did. Then on Friday, April 22, the 1988 Junior-Senior Prom began to take shape. With half of the students at the school and the others at the David Barber Civic Center the balloons began to roll in. It seemed as if they would never stop. But they did, and just in time. A special thanks goes to Mrs. Lerch, Mr. Sterrett, the Junior Class officers: Sherri Smith, Tommy Morlatt, Shelly Baker, and lori Barker, and the entire Junior Class for a prom well done! im Mizer shows her ability to snap and skate at the same time Good job, Kim!
