He had experience in both teaching and administration before coming to N.H.S. in 1973. ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT Mr. Grant Sheppard graduated from Pikeville College with a Bachelor of Arts. He received his Master of Arts from Marshall University and did postgraduate work at Ohio State. He came to N. H. S. in 1974. 4 PRINCIPAL JOHN J. BOICH Mr. Boich studied at Ohio University. There he earned his Bachelor of Science and Master of Education degrees and did post-graduate work. After being at N.H.S. for four years, he feels that it rates with the best of small schools in the state. In his own words the student body has accepted responsibilities in reference to achieving academically and in demonstrating those qualities of leadership that are highly desirable. The contests began in September with the West Jefferson Marching Invitational, in which the band placed first in its class and was first runner-up to grand champion. In October the Trojans placed first in their class in the Zanesville Bonanza of Bands and placed second in the New Philadelphia Marching Contest. In both October contests, the majorettes placed first overall, while both the Trojanettes and the Field Commander were second place overall. Band officers were Sally Gay, president; Vickie Stocker, secretary; Jackie Casey and Connie Hannahs, librarians.
