SOCIAL STUDIES Mr. Belle The goal of the Social Studies department is to produ ce responsible civic-minded citizens. To accomplish this there is offered a basic background of the histories and governments of different countries of the world which are studied and compared with the government of our own country. INDUSTRIAL ARTS DEPARTMENT Mr. Sharrock In the industrial arts classes Mr. Riffle and Mr. Sharrock endeavor to train the hands as well as the mind. The boys taking industrial arts are taught the necessity of precision in mechanical drawing and the art of making a piece of wood come alive and take form in wood construction. They begin by making a simple cutting board and develop their skills in wood work by completing such projects as end tables, stereo cabinets, and grandfather clocks. Mr. Riffle 23
