A better school program for boys and girls is the thought that is constantly in the minds of school superintendents. lVIr. Roeder has worked unceasingly towards this goal in the six years that he has been superintendent of the New- comerstown schools. He gains aid and inspiration for this program by associa- tion with other members of the teaching profession at meetings of many or anizations. One of these organizations is The American Association of School Administrators which met for its seventy-fourth annual convention in Atlantic City in February to consider many problems, among them that of federal aid for schools, compulsory military training, and America's responsibility in the expanding role of education. Another organization is the Northeastern Ohio Superintendents Workshop. This group meets once a month at Kent, Ohio, under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Education of Kent University to discuss such subjects as: revision of the state scholarship tests, the use of the audiometer in schools, the state music code and its restrictions placed on school bands and vocal organiza- tions, and legislation pertaining to public schools. A third superintendents' group is that of the Superintendents of the ex- empted villages of Ohio. Through membership in the Eastern Ohio Teachers Association, the Ohio Teachers Association, and the National Education Association Mr. Roeder, as well as the other teachers of our school, strive to give ever increasing service to their profession which is dedicated to the education of boys and girls.
