Twenty Years From Now Class of 1 Just then the telephone rang, and Barbara Grewell, the operator, gave Pat the glad news that Mrs. Harold Schlarb fJanie Wolf I had just given birth to quadruplets. The three of us rushed down stairs, passed the hotel detective, John Rector, then rushed out to the taxi cab driven by Shirley Vierheller. When we arrived at the N. Y. City Hospital the first person we saw was head nurse Marjorie Loveless. She told us which room Janie was in. While there we met LIanie's physicians, Dr. Wayne McFadden and Dr. Earl Ley, and her nurse, Marjorie Ott. Wayne told us that of the many marvelous lab technicians there, the best were Elsie Stahl and Kenneth Dorsey. As we were talking, John jumped up and started to pace the fioor. Oh! For gosh sakes! I've got a toothachef' Why don't you go to my dentist? asked Janie. Who is your dentist? Oh! I thought you knew. Of course, it could only be Dr, Raymond Cappel. His nurse is Irma Jean Kail. By the way,' said Janie, did you know Parker Little is here in the hospital? He shot himself in the shoulder while fixing one of his guns. He's the famous gun- smith, you know, from Dry Gulch, Texas. As we were leaving the hospital we met Marjorie Loveless again. She told us that she had just read that Robert Fenton's horse, Gone With the Wind , had wlon the sweepstakes at Santa Anita. We decided to walk back to the hotel so we could look into some of the stores, operated by our friends. There were Don Atkinson, manager of the A 8: P, and Don Tyson, manager of Krogers. While walking down the avenue we met Captain Milligan whose ship is the U.S.S. Newcosean. He told us he had just returned from India where he had seen Margaret Kirk who was teaching the natives good home making. As it was nearing dinner time we went to the Rainbow Room to eat. While there we noticed three of the country's most famous coaches: Bob Atkinson, coach at Ohio State, Dean Fletcher, coach at the University of Southern California, and Bernard Sharrock, coach at Annapolis. We also saw the famous New York dairy man, Jerry Crater, dining with his secretary, Fern Floyd. John Hackenbracht, the orchard multi-millionaire, who was donating a new gymnasium to N.H.S., was also in the dining room. He told us that two of the best workmen on the new building were Robert Temple, a carpenter, and Robert Kinsey, electrician. When we came back to our penthouse John said Well, girls, its been wonderful seeing you again and our old friends have all made good. I must go. I have to leave for Montreal, Canada, tomorrow. But first, I will try to see Dr. Cappel about this aching tooth. Oh! by the way, did you know that Mrs. Bill Welsh lHe1en Proudj owns a beauty parlor up there? John Gunn owns a department store in Ottawa, too, His secretary is Florence Riggle and his head bookkeeper is Lois Medley. I'll tell them all the news about the class of '46, GLORIA HILDBRAND PAT IMHOFF Page Twenty Five
