Seann In the fall of 1951 66 students stepped through the doors of Newcastle Hlgh School to begm a long four year journey on the path of llfe Mr Morgan and Mr Flelds undertook the task of guldmg the Freshman class through thxs trymg year We cho e Dwlght Elhott as our leader Marge Evander his asslstant and Shirley Schwarze Secretary Treasurer Dale Moden represented us ln the Student Councll Our next lmportant step was mltlatlon whlch we survlved belleve lt or not' Before we knew lt November was here whlch meant Carnival Tlme our largest money maklng actlvlty Our Carmval Klng and ueen candidates were Jerry Dlxon and Marge Evander All of a sudden the month of May arrlved to put a happy end to school books for a summer yacatlon In September 1952 we assumed the d1gn1f1ed statlon of Sophomores Mr Jahrman was chosen class sponsor Presldent Larry Carr Vlce Presldent Jerry Dlxon and Secretary Treasurer Jeanette Wlltse Janlce Hansen was our representatlve to Stu dent Councll Freshman 1n1t1at1on was held ln the usual fashlon Our Carnlval candldates were Jeanette Wlltse and Fred MHIQUISS As sprmg rolled around had our annual class p1cn1c at the L A K We were then ready to enjoy our yacatlon We came back to school 1n 1953 as Junlors reallzmg we had a blg year ahead of us With thls thought ln m1nd we chose the followmg 0fflCCTS Dennls Fuller Presldent Dale Moden VICC Presrdent Gertrude Bond Secretary Treasurer Ruby Stram and Dwlght Elllott were chosen to represent us ln the Student Councrl Our sponsors for the year were Mrs Crouch and Mr Bergstrom We had the thrlll of choosmg our class rings class colors and our motto In November we presented Fmders Creepers a three act comedy Frances Croner and Dale Moden were chosen as our Carmval candldates ln May the long awalted day arrlved our Jumor Senior Prom and Banquet Claralee Clllttlfll and Danny Hansen relgned over the 1954 Prom festlvltles Our theme Vloonllght Swlng was very effectlvely carried out wlth a huge swmg ln one corner of the garden scene where the crowmng took place The last event of our ,lumor year was the class plcmc Summer lay before us and we eagerly awalted the day when we would become Senlors Our last year arrned and once agam we met ln the halls of NHS determmed to make thus year a hlghllght of our hfe Mr Thompson Mr Olson and Mr Berg strom were our class sponsors As class offlcers we elected Glen Statler Presldent Jeanette Keener Vlce Presldent Jen Hanchey Secretary and Mary Cordova Treasurer Janlta PZlhSlCl and Harry Borglalll represented us ln the Student Councll Then work began on the task of producmg our Golden D0glC Smce we were the 50th graduatlng class of NHS our Ed1tor1nCh1ef Dale Moden and the annual staff worked very hard to make thls an outstanding yearbook Our Homecommg foat History of NHS was selected as the most outstandmg float of H0mCCOmlng the last bell rang drawlng the 1955 school year to a close uppermost ln our thoughts were to hve our motto We Bulld the Ladder by Whlch We Rlse Although each member of our class w11l go h1s own way he w1ll carry w1th hun the pleasant memorles of frlends and peraances at Newcastle Hlgh X w ' W ' 1 J . . . v V- - Q . s . , , 1 1 ' ' ' 7 - 1 1 .
