The Newcastle High School Student Council involved itself in many various activities during the year. In the summer, they spent a few days at Grand Lake planning activities for the up- coming school year. They sponsored the St. Judes “Bike-a-thon”, and they worked toward getting improvements on the school parking lot. But their main job was to coordinate the Homecoming Parade and Halftime ceremonies. They selected the judges for the float competi- tion and they made sure everything ran smooth- ly in the parade. They also added a new dimen- sion to the halftime ceremonies, with the addi- tion of the “Royal Court”, which consisted of the Presidents of each organization on campus, and their escorts. StuCo helped to improve student life. 18
