Student Council The Senior High Student Council came to life this year. They met many times during the summer and set the year’s goals. The Stu- dent Council found itself with the responsibility of the homecoming parade and activities. The council planned several of the assemblies for the school, year, including the welcoming assembly at the first of the school year, movies, and the Christmas assembly. The council has sixteen members representing three classes and five school organ- izations. The Student Council is proud to be representing the Racer student body. FIRST ROW: M. Dougall-Sponsor, M. Mayhugh-Vice-President, B. Slater-Reporter, N. Shores, S. Wynne. Newcastle’s Junior High Student Council went into its second year with more time to work toward achieving the goals drawn up in the constitu- tion. A project of the council this year was a stu- dent store to benefit stu- dents, teachers, and parents. Council members worked each morning selling paper, notebooks and pencils. FIRST ROW: C. Yearbook: Work but Fun SEATED: )an Schaapveld, Sandy Upton, Mrs. Burnett, Lauri Crawford. STANDING: Tommy Gage, Regina Moore, Teresa Lynn, I isha Carter. On December 13, Mrs. Burnett took over the yearbook class which was offered 6th hour. The following students from the original class joined Mrs. Burnett for the class: Tisha Carter, Regina Moore, Teresa Lynn, Sandy Upton, Jan Schaapveld, and Tommy Gage. Due to the pressing yearbook deadlines one of Mrs. Burnett’s last year students, Lauri Crawford, was called in to help out. Working during the Christmas vacation, on teachers meetings, and after school was very hectic, but the staff finally got the yearbook sent in on time. We hope this yearbook helps all the students of New- castle High School to remember all the important memories of the school year 1976-77. Teresa Lynn, junior, was the editor of the “Racer Memories of 1976” yearbook. Mrs. Burnett, advisor of the yearbook, working to meet the March 11 deadline.
