Mr. Barone. . .Coaching the Basketball team to the Marmonte League Champion- ship in 1977-1978. Mr. Burner. . .That Friday night that I didn't stay home and watch my comb soak in lukewarm water. Mr. Carroll ...Making and flying kites when I was a kid. I would use sticks, news- papers, and flour paste. My string came from chicken feed sacks. My interest in chicken feed probably led to my getting into teaching. Ms. Cort... When I had to turn Robert Redford down for a date for the third time!!! Mr. Cromwell ...The two yeas living in Australia where I met my wife, Nola, fol- lowed by three months travelling in South East Africa. Mr. Crouch. . .When I was a Senior class advisor and I drove the Senior float, which was covered with glued human hair, and it rained. Ms. Dahlen. . .I'm still waiting for it I!! Sra. Derr. . .!!Dejenme en paz!! Ms. Dibble. . .Was teaching three English classes last year in a wheel chair. It was an experience I will never forget-unfortuna- tely, neither will the English department. Mr. Dick...Can be summed up in one word. . .WOW!!! Ms. Doring. , .Being a civic-minded per- son, one day twelve years ago, I volun- teered to be a teacher's aide for a science teacher friend. The very first day on the job, I was drafted as a teacher and have been going at it ever since. Ms. Feller. . .My first trip to Switzerland and Germany and meeting our relatives in those two countries. Mr. Firth . , .Shortly after Dr. Butterbaugh became superintendent, a strange man walked into my classroom, I'm Wayne Butterbaugh , he said, and I'm visiting some cIasses. Boy was I surprised!! Ms. Gangsei...Standing on Mars Hill in the place near the Acropolis where the Apostle Paul stood to preach his famous sermon. . . MEMORABLE EXPERIENCE Ms. Heiken. . .As I was kicking an ice ma- chine that stole my money, a strange man drove up and offered me an endless sup- ply of ice from his restaurant if I would go with him to buy birthday candles. It sound- ed ridiculous so I got in the car with him and married him a year later. MY MOST Mr. Henderson. . .The opening of New- bury Park High, it was a small rural commu- nity and everyone in the faculty knew each other. fit was fun!I Mr. Hertz.. .What a question! There's so many. . .My daughter's birth, my parent's deaths. Travels to distant lands, camping in forested mountains. Getting tear-gassed for protesting murders. And, of course, falling in love... Ms. Hokana... The day Dr. K, Mr. De Frates and Nori Parvin interviewed me for my job at N.P.H.S., and I was wearing green and white -oops!!!-H Mr. Holmboe. . .Two experiences stand out. One is my wedding day and the sec- ond is the day of the birth of our daughter. I was present in the delivery room when she was born. It was truly an exhilirating experience. Mr. Intlekofer. . .Lasted for four years-the time I spent in college, at the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana. Mr. james. . .The day I ran down the sta- tion platform to catch a train, grabbed for the last car and missed!! Dr. Kirschenstein. . .Surviving the attack at Apache Pass. Ms. Maybee...Finally putting my foot down in the classroom and breaking off the heel of my boot! Mr. McElmurry. . .Riding the Revolu- tion and Colossus at Magic Mountain Mr. Merrill..In life, when my two sons were born. In coaching, winning the CIF Baseball Championship in 1968 Newbury Park's first year. Mr. Miller. . .Mr. Merrill's first CIF base- ball championship, my 0-14 basketball team, and three of my Mass Media stu- dents now radio broadcasters. Mr. Moore. . .Summer vacation! Mr. Nelson. . .Riding in the tube of life, I became one with all the cosmic beings of Mathland and then rollercoastered into the internal bliss of the Pythagorean Theo- rem. Mr. Nelson. . .Loaning Gigi Fernandez my pants, hat, gloves, and eventually my Yo- semite Institute T-Shirt. Ms. Norton. . .The day I was interviewed for my job here by Dr. Kirschenstein, Mr. De Frates, Coach Merrill, Ms. Urpin and Mrs. Washburn-terrifying! Mr. Pardee. . .lust being alive and exper- iencing the sweet fragrance of a rose blos- som with my puppy dog. Ms. Parvin. . .Being born. .as a triplet the first ever born in japan. Mr. Peters. , .Me and my GL1000! Ms. Reed. .. Giving birth to my very beau- tiful, very special son-Corey. Mr. Reed. . .Meeting joe Rodriguez for the first time. Mr. Rueben...The really great thrill of working with young people who have self- respect and know pleasure of achieve- m6!1t. Mr. Scarpino. . .Being with my wife lan while she gave birth to our beautiful daughter, Carrie. For it was a time of in- tense work, worry, and love. Mr. 5cott...This past summer losing 30 pounds and now people don't confuse me with Mr. Gilmore and Mr. Hurley. Ms. Severns. . .Driving alone through a mountain pass at 3:00 in a blizzard that made it impossible to see more than three feet in front of the car. Try it sometime on a very windy cliff-hanging road!! Ms. Taylor... Every student in the class made 100fVu on the test that day. And be- ing in Paris on Bastille Day. Mr. Thomas. . .Being struck by lightning- -while fishing in the High Sierras. Mr. R. Thomas. . .Teaching using positive reinforcement. Principal walks into the room and sits down unnoticed. I yell at one student SHUT UP!! . I notice the principal at this time. I go to the student and say I really liked the way you shut upll.
