204 Boys The Newbury Park Varsity Tennis team is off to a good start this year. They have several players returning from last year and are set for a winning season. Leading the way for the Panther's tennis team are Steve Poorman and Hoppy McClung, Steve who did not lose a league match last year and Hoppy who lost only one should be tough competition this year. Coach El- wyn Ellis said, This will be the year the team does it all, were going to win league and do well in CIF. Newbury Park's toughest competition will come from T.O. and Agoura both of which have very strong teams. Many of the players feel they have a very good shot at the league title, Dave Sinner commented, This years team isn't the best N.P.'s ever had, but it's the best one in the Conejo Valley this year. TENNISA YO E? The junior Varsity tennis team is solid this year with a lot of returning players from last year. Greg Hughes and Tino Bacowan will be leading the singles and josh Mednick and Steve Gangsei will be playing No. 1 doubles. Many of the play- ers are optimistic this year and are not sure what they can expect. They'll have tough competition from T.O. and Agoura this year. The I.V.'s are determined to do well and should give their opponents plenty to worry about this year. Tennk
