ln previous years, the Newbury Park FroshfSoph x-country team had gone un- defeated in league competition. The pres- sure was on for the boys when enthusias- tic coaches and fellow runners encour- aged them to carry out the unmarred re- cord. The team did carry the triumph one year further to make it the sixth win in a row. When asked how he felt about the competition, the FroshfSoph runner Mike Everett said, l figured we had a good chance, but we were threatened after T.O. beat us, but it made us work harder to beat them in league finals. BIG AND PGWERFUL he j.V. Boys had a very successful sea- son. According to T. j. McGreevy: The team got a lot of support from different runners each week. We worked together as a team and showed well at invitation- als. This year's team was probably the largest in the league in terms of sheer numbers - more than 40 runners! Coach Stewart's philosophy is to encourage interest and participation in the sport as a means to individual and team accomplishment.
