rom the days of the Gold Rush, California has at- tracted people from all over the world to find a better life. At Newbury Park, we have many foreign exchange stu- dents and students who have moved here from an- other country. Among these are from Iran- Ed Margh- oosian, Farid Goleh, Ata Rasekhi, Navid Tebpani, and Hamlet Zadourian, Brazil- Andre' Petry, japan- Nikki Ikeo, Mexico- Maria Vargas, Korea- Abraham Chang, Denmark- Marika Kurpa, Lars Riis, Holland- Miriam Duiker, Casy Havelaar and from Sweden- Bengt Kohlin. During second period, you could find the foreign ex- change students in Room 55 with their teacher, Amy Reed, who is teaching them English. We asked some of these students how they felt about California. They found that the people are very friendly and the weather beautiful.fWhen it's not rainingll One thing that amazed Bengt Kohlin about California was that one day you go swimming at the beach and the next you can go skiing in the mountains. ln Sweden that is impossible! he said. f 1 1t-.
