Varsity, 0 - This year was the most successful season in This was the lst year that Newbury Park High School had a competitive diving team. Cur two divers, Linda Holston and Kelly Culligan, both did an excellent job adding points to the Varsity score with their competition. Linda placed third in the league in diving at the Marmonte League Diving Championships. We look for- ward to their competition next season. -Coach M. Dibble Shannon Higbee gets ready for the start. Her speciality is the 50 yd. backstroke which she usually gets lst or 2nd in. J V., We had the greatest swim season ever this year! the 4 year history of the Newbury Park Girls Swim Team. Pre-season started with a 3-1 rec- ord. The advancement of the season brought a successful season-trouncing all opponents with the exception of T.O. Although the score of the T.O. meet was not indicative of the action, it was a well-contested meet. The outcome of which was not certain until the finish of the last relay. This yearis successful season is attributed to the influx of new swimmers on our team. The majority of our Varsity squad are freshmen and sophomores. We are losing only two Seniors this year, and although we will miss their contributions to our team, we look forward to next year's sea- son, and another meet with T.O.! The season record was 8-2.57-Coafrb M.,Dibb1e We finished league with a 6-1 record and overall league standings were 10-1. We had strength and depth in every event. Our top swimmer in the 50 yd. freestyle was Stacy Hughes, in the 50 yd. butterfly our strongest swimmer was Cindy Olmstead, in the 50 yd. backstroke it was Patty Glynn, and the 50 yd. breastroke it was Nancy Get- man and the 200 yd. freestyle record breaker was Patrice Heinrichs. I am extremely proud of all the girls. We had a large group of new competitive swimmers this year and I am overwhelmed and very proud of their improve- ment and achievement. We will be losing a Senior from the Junior Varsity swim team and will miss her great contributions Good-bye a d d 1 k, N G - ' Sande Washllrurrgoo uc ancy etman Coach Summer Supplement
