The school has grown in size and spiritg Aca- demic progress is improving and in all classes and among students. The P.T.S.A. as a new organization is working toward improved school and community cooperation. Expressions area S f The 197 2 Pawprint captured the many changing expressions of the year. Picnic day on the football field during Homecoming was a new innovation. An ASB car rally was initiated. The groundwork for open campus was being set with Sven Larson heading the ASB. Campus sculpture and painted murals decorated the NPHS grounds. It was the beginning of the construction of a huge outdoor kiln for ceramics. The year was highlighted by league winning sports and two spring musicals: H1100 in the Shade and Charlie Brown. 1972 was also the year of the big gas leak which left the school with muddy trenches and freezing classrooms for a major portion of the winter months. A Sign of the Times, 'X . .,f, ' '92?fgQ,7?ff5s . - ,F W Y -uw. , an J, ,S ' ' ag ' - 'Q X ww- lf f g i i 'Lf We qw- 'lf Astrology is as art and science which has enhanced mankind for centuries. Learned men have studied and valued it, kings and emperors have relied on it in troubled times. Today, more and more people turn to the stars for the knowledge they can gain about them- selves and others. Could it be that our daily lives here at Newbury Park High School are ruled by the stars? Think about it. . . 1970 was a year of many new things. It had a brand new newspaper, The Prowlern, and the first Homecoming and Homecoming week. Seniors were fated to earn the highest points in games that ranged from a scavenger hunt to a pie eating contest. Our first annual Homecoming attractions were enjoyed by the entire student body. The ASB President was Rick Dillingham. New clubs evolved this year such as Distributive Education, Speech Club, Girls League and Youth for Under- standing. pp ,,.. WWW? 'E fi ii T.
