Lin Thomas - I have always been very fond of the automobile, airplane and other machinery being developed at the beginning of this century - I would like to have lived, been aware of, and par- ticipated in the inventions, develop- ment, racing Sz testing of this equip- ment from it's inception. To have known and worked with great men such as Henry Ford Ka Henry Leland, the chevrolet brothers, the Duryea Bros, the Wright Bros, and others would have been very fascination. I liked this period because families were close and had to work together in order to sur- prise. The challenge and potential for growth was unlimited. Women were becoming more independent and more influential because they shared equally in all the labors and dangers of pio- neering. I love the glorious westem scenery and find it fascinating to re-live the lives of the miners, cattle- men and frontier farmers. Dan Pry-For my students, who some- times have trouble comprehending the importance of certain subjects, I like this quote from Marie-Ebner Oschen- bach- In youth we leam, in age we understand. For my athletes, I have two. Henry Ward Beecher stated of win- ning- Victories that are cheap are cheap. Those are only worth having which come as a result of hard fight- ing. My favorite quote came from a source unknown by me- Once you've made your mark in the world, look out for guys with an eraser. John Uelmen-John F. I look forward to a great future for America, a future in which our country will match it's military strength with our moral restraint, it's wealth with our wisdom, it's power with our purpose. I look forward to an America which will not he afraid of grace and beauty, which will protect the beauty of our natural environ- ment an America which will re- ward achievement in business or state- craft . . . I look forward to an America which commands respect throughout the world, not only for it's strength, but for its civilization as well.
