Freshmen Like every Freshmen class of the past, the arrival of the 'class of 78' brought with it several new changes. Probably the most dynamic of the arrivals was the shifted schedule for Freshmen and Sophomores. Opinion was often times voiced by the foes of the new schedule, but most managed to adapt to it. Although the new shifted schedule helped to alleviate the over-crowded condition, some of the old rivalry between the underclassmen and the upperclassmen may have been lost in the shuffle. Another was that this year's class was the first incoming Freshmen class to experience registration. The selection of courses and their instructors was for some a frustrating and disappointing start to four years at NPHS. The year was not a complete upheaval of basic traditions, as many participated in the traditional activities. The Welcome Dance, an an- nual favorite was again hosted to welcome the Freshmen class and received a phenomenal turnout. Homecoming Week saw the birth of the class spirit. Long evening hours were labored to assemble the float, which in itself was a first. This was the first year the freshmen float ended-up as what it was planned out to be. ., .,.i,w.:,,wP,f:f...: . . 36' . . N M it . s'.'.if .ll l Y H. . - 'lr' A ' if -. ' , . Spirit for this class was not an idle adjective. Winning class com- petitions was just the beginning. During the year, the class became so spirited that they were suspended from attending the rallies. With a beginning like this one, the 'class of 78' should hold memories for years to come. hm... 160 Freshmen W 5 if . 4 Officers from left to right ar Yllyl Lmllib mg s i- .15 lg.. . . .
