Murry, Coach- Sande Washburn. Sande Washburn was our l.V. Swim coach this year. This was the first year that there was separate coaches for the swim teams. Many of the girls were on the team last year and have returned to make another successful season. The girls practiced tenth period and late into the evening every day. The girls were very determined and showed their dedication at every meet. Holly Eggebrecht goes up for the iump Nori Parvin coaching the team Basket good by Diane Wilson Our Newbury Park Girl's Basketball teams went through a hard season. With two new coaches added to the school, new teams were formed. Nori Parvin presented new plays which paid off dur- ing the Camarillo and La Reina games. The Varsity team had difficult work- outs and strenuous games. Many of the practices were held on Saturdays. Connie Winsky took the junior Var- sity team and, like the Varsity, worked very hard on drills and plays. They per- formed outstandingly well against Camarillo Q34-61 and Channel Islands C36- 4l-two of their best played games. The league standings put the l.V. team in third position. ' 'iszfx V. , Vw 1 h 1 ,,Ah, come on Coachy, Our mascot I'as a Glenda Higgins stroking for the win As the third year of girls swim meets approached, the girls were out in the pool everyday. With the start of the season on March 17, they practiced from 7th period to 4:30 and sometimes 5:00. The swimmers worked on sprints, kicks and pulls of each stroke. They swam against such schools as Thousand Oaks, Oxnard, Royal, Agoura, Camarillo and Simi. With the League Prelims at Newbury Park a few of the girls swam their way into CIF. Marti Dibble coached the girls and worked on each individual stroke with them. Rain, sleet, or snow the girls with their coach were out there working and at every home meet Mascot 'Tasha' was there.
