Rick Mellinger Pin Him The 1974-1975 l.V. wrestling team un- der the direction of Coach Hurley took Third place in the Marmonte League. The team had a record of 9-4 including their victory against Agoura, 72-0. The team also went to the San Marcos l.V. tourna- ment and the Santa Barbara l.V. tourna- ment placing fifth in both tourneys. The team was led by captains Rick Mellinger and john Bellinghire. Most Valuable member of the team was Dave Williams with Mark Batchelor and Rick Heinz as Most Improved. The FroshfSoph wrestling had a dual meet record of 4-0. They were very successful at tournaments. The team took First at the Novice tourney, Fourth at the Royal FroshfSoph, Second at the Valley View tourney, and Fifth at the Simi tourney. The Most Valuable member was lohn Billinghire and Most Improved went to Mike Way. The team captain was lim Hyatt. Iohns, Fourth row: C. Carlson, I. Clouse, P. Postel, M. Whittney, I. Fernandez M. Coach Hurley, Coach Pry and Coach Wilkes. The 1974-1975 wrestling team has many new ac- complishments, led by a new coach, Dan Pry. Coach Pry led his team to many tournament wins, 1st, Alemany Invitational, 2nd, Pleasant Valley Invitational and 4th, Dana Hills Invitational, and the League Championship with a record of 8-0-1. The tie was with Thousand Oaks High with a 28-28 match. The entire Team contributed to the League win. Every team has its standouts and Newbury Park was no different. Gary Warren i178 lbs.J was the Most Valuable team member along with being first in league and 3rd in CIF sec- tionals. Carrol. monte League Championships held at Camarillo H.S. due to an injury, however, lim had a record of 20-0 and was voted Most Outstanding by his teammates. Ieff Blum C1681 was first in league and Randy Kappen 11367 voted Most Inspirational. Randy was first in league and voted Captain. Ieff Blum was voted Most Inspirational. Royce Gilder 11411 and Pete Postel 11063 were 2nd in League. Postel was also voted Most Improved. The team was led by captains Ieff Iohns and Randy Kappen. Coach Pry was very pleased with the success of this year's team and hopes for the game results next year. Congratulations on winning the League.
