While through the years the law has for- malized your twenty-first birthday as the day on which you become an adult in terms of legal and civic responsibility, f-or all other practical purposes you stand at the threshold of your lives as men and women when you receive your diplomas from Newburgh Free Academy. As you cross that threshold, we wish you Godspeed and ask you to remember that, to whatever extent we have bee n successful parents, teachers and friends, as you live each day hereafter you will carry with you a bit of each of us . . ..our mutual hopes and ideals as well as such skills as we have passed on to you.
