The present volume is the first that has been published by a class at the Academy. Our efforts might have been presented in better form had we possessed the requisite time and material. As it is we present our little book, hoping your criticism will not be severe, knowing, as you do, we are as yet but novices in the literary line. Our book is not by any means perfect. We have only started the literary movement. Our aim is to lay the foundation for future Academy publications that will be a credit to the school, and at the same time in- crease the loyalty of the students for their Alma Mater. we present to you a record of the alumni, hoping it may be of inter- est to some of the graduates. By its perusal one can see that the Acad- emy has turned out ,not the worst of men. Many of the graduates have won fame and position in both the professional and mercantile worlds, many have but just commenced the struggle for existence, while a few have gone to join the great majority. Our publication does not contain a record of splendid athletic achieve- ments. True, for their class, we have many excellent athletes, but 1n contests with adjacent wllegey they have to contend against the immense handicap of age and lack of experience. During the last few years there has been a decided improvement in the school. We have a number of regularly organized societies, athletic, social and musical, which have done much to improve their members and increase. the feeling of good fellowship. is Est quodam prodire tenus si non datur ultra.
