iltbe 1929 Qlbrarle KATHLEEN LU GILLIAM You can betcha', we're glad we mercha' You can betchaf we won't forgetcha'. Kat came to Newberry Hi after a stay in Virginia. She is very friendly and is always ready to share in the school activities. After graduation she is planning to go in training at Washington. Maybe she'll become head nurse. We are prophesying a great future for her. GILBERT GOODMAN Give to the world the best you have, And the best will come back to you. Snit has achieved great success as a student. He has a big heart and is always ready to help his friends and hasn't an enemy in the world. ln him we have a gentleman, a true friend, and a boy who possesses the elements of success. As we part we whisper, May Dame Fortune ever smile on you. but never her daughter Miss Fortune. MILDRED HIPP Her smile shows her happiness Her friends her popularity. Sunshine has won the friendship of all by her friendly smile and lovely disposition. Her chief joy is found in making others happy. For three years she played on the girls basketball team and has always exhibited a great deal of Hi spirit. We feel sure that some day she will make our class famous because of her re- nown. CAROLYN LANE 'AHer virtues are many, her faults are few: Ti her friends she is loyal, faithful, and true. Carolyn has always shown kindness and loyalty to her classmates and has endeared herself to all. She is very dependable and conscientious, always doing well her part in the activities of the school. l Page Twenty-two fltbe 1929 Sbraclc LILLIE RAY CROMER A'lVork, study, love: but the greatest of these is love. Although Lil is in love, you never find her lacking in her studies. She is friendly to the girls but to only one boy. We would feel lone- some without her, for she is always willing to help in any way she can. Best wishes and good luck, Lillie. JOHNSON HAGOOD CLARY A smile for all, a greeting glad A lovable, jolly way he had. 'AFoots, with his stentorian voice, command- ing figure, and attractive personality is a fellow never to be forgotten. His dialogues with the teachers are an unfailing source of entertainment for the rest of the class. He gets a lot of study- ing done when quiet, but when life gets too serious he just slights his English notebook and doesn't worry. Although we can't predict your life work, Foots, here's wishing you success. RUTH FEAGLE True friends are like jewels, precious and rare. Ruth is a living proof of the old quotation that true friends are like jewels, for her friend- ship is a thing worth while. Her greatest horror is getting fatter, We do not know what Ruth's career will be, but with her straightforwardness and sincerity it cannot be other than a useful and happy one. MARGARET FULLER Her virtues are many, her faults are few: And to her friends she is loyal, faithful, and true. Although Margaret has not been with very long, it seems as if she has always been a member of our class. Her good nature, her love of fun, and her unselfishness have won her many friends. Her jolly smile and sweet face will be greatly missed in the classroom and on the cam- pus. The better one knows Margaret, the more charming she becomes.

With her good humor and fun, Nell wins a place in the hearts of all who know her. Al- though a child of pleasure, she makes a good record in the classroom. She does her part in all we undertake and can always be depended on. We wish her the best that life can give. RUBY LEE LIVINGSTON A joyful companion is worth gold. Ruby Lee is a true friend, comrade, and a good student, especially in Latin. By her pleas- ing personality and charming manner she has added many to her list of friends. The appreci- ation of her excellent qualities is shown by her many friends, who wish her a long and pros- perous life.- WILBUR E. LONG, JR. True to his aim, Let others praise or blame. Wilbur has a personality that wins the admi- ration and good will of everyone with whom he comes in contact. He lightens the burdens of others with his cheerfulness. He is very pop- ular with the teachers and students, especially his own class who choose him as editor-in-chief of THE ORACLE. We know he will be successful in life, and when he leaves the high school everyone will miss him. HELEN LOMINACK To know her is to love her, And her acquaintance is lasting. Although Helen has not been with us very long, she has proven herself a good student. Her winning personality and jolly good disposition will be cherished in our memories. She always looks on the bright side of life and can smile even in time of trouble. Whatever path Helen travels in life, we wish her great success.
