IN MEMCDRIAM I l LLGYD G. MILLISOR Mr. Lloyd G. Millisor, retired head of the Commercial Department of Newark High School, passed away in his home on West Church Street, No- vember 3, 1945. News of his death was received with sincere regret by the faculty and students of Newark High School. Mr. Millisor Iirst taught in Madison, Indiana, but in 1906 he came to New- ark High School as a teacher of com- mercial subjects and as coach of ath- letics. He retired in August, 1945. Mr. Millisor enjoyed teaching book- keeping and shorthand. He did much to improve the standards of the com- mercial department while he was its head. His greatest interest was in preparing the student for his work after graduation. His friendly manner and personal interest in each pupil re- sulted in the cooperation he received from his students and in the excel- lence of their preparation for the busi- ness world. IN MEMOBIAM LIEUTENANT COLONEL 1. HOBABT MILLER Faculty m e m b e 1' s and students greatly mourn the passing of Lieu- tenant Colonel I. Hobart Miller who for nineteen years had been a well- known person in Newark school life. Mr. Miller first came to Newark High School in 1926, at which time he taught science, later, in 1928, he be- came athletic coach. He then left high school and became commander of a Three-C's camp in Utah. He came back to Newark in 1939 and was teacher of science and mathematics at Central junior High School. The fall of 1940, he was appointed principal of Roosevelt junior High School until june, 1941. Mr. Miller was called into the serv- ice on October 6, 1941, as a captain in the infantry and was assigned to the reception center at Fort Benja- 1nin Harrison, Indiana. In September, 1942, he was pro- Page Twenty-Four Y Y Y .Y - 4.. .WW inoted to the rank of major and be- came commanding oflicer of the Fifth Service Command Motor Pool at Fort Benjamin Harrison. In February, 1944, he was advanced to the rank of lieutenant colonel and was assigned to the 1513 Service Unit, Service Command Ordnance Shop A, District 3, Columbus, Ohio, as the commanding officer, which post he held at the time of his death. Colonel Miller died suddenly in a physicianis oflice in Columbus, Ohio, June 27, 1945, a few minutes after col- lapsing while playing baseball with the Bexley High School Dadis Club. His death was attributed to coronary thrombosis. Mr. Miller will be remembered by all for his friendliness, his love of clean fun, and his interest in athletics to which he contributed much to in- spire good clean sportsmanship.
