In Memoriam RICHARD SMITH December 15, 1925 March 28, 1943 Faculty members and students, espe- cially seniors, mourn the loss of one of its members, Richard Smith, who was killed in an automobile accident near St. Louisville. Richard was enrolled in the indus- trial course and was very active in printing the past two years. 1-le was interested in this subject and had pride in doing neat work. His fatal accident was a shock to his close friends, for he was a congenial and a willing worker. age 24 VIOLA MAY WAKEFIELD September 8, 1926 August 2, 1942 Or, ever the silver cord be loosed, or the golden bowl be broken, or the pitcher broken at the fountain, or the wheel broken at the cistern, Then shall man return to dust and the spirit unto God who gave it. Viola Wakefield was about to enter her junior year, when her. life ended so quickly and without warning. The writ- er of this short sketch talked with her father and mother just two days before the tragedy and learned from them of her devotion to the High School and particularly to the I-ligh School Band for which she had done so much to help make it a success. Viola, immaculate in appearance, was always respectful to her parents and teachers and kind and thoughtful to her classmates. Truly, she was the pitcher broken at the fountain, the wheel broken at the cistern, but her spirit returned to God who gave it.
