Burt Manhoff has completed a successful first year as a member of the Physical Education Depart' ment at NCRU. Manhoff took over the leadership of the wrestling and fencing squads nd both teams turned in commendable performan es. Born and raised in Newark, Manhoif won le ers in football and track at Weequahic High School. An Army veteran with two years in the European theatre, he then went to Rutgers N.B. where h earned varsity letters in football and track and play d on the Scarf let Lacrosse team. He competed in wrestling at Montclair Teachers before the war. He earned his Master of Education degree from Rutgers in June, 1948, and is currently studying for his doctorate. FE CIG In a year which produced as many varied scores as possible, the NCRU fencing squad ended the scheduled sea' son with three triumphs, a tie and two lo ses. The foilsmen opened with a Sfl rulaway triumph over Pratt Institute, and paradoxically closed with a 7f2 drubbing at the hands of Drew University. Betwe an these two about face meets were sandwiched a victory arid a tie with Mont' clair State Teachers, a loss to NCE a d a win over the Montclair YMCA. The tie with MST was disappointing since the NCRU squad held a 7f2 edge a, one time. Fencing for Newark were Anthony Villane, Paul Argiriou, Mel Strauss, A1 Bromfield nd Lee Bernstein.
