BETA IGMA llllll The only International Fraternity at Newark Col' leges in the InterfFraternity Council, the Theta Chapter of Beta Sigma Rho has endeavored to maintain leadership and scholarship since its inception in 1935. Each year a plaque is awarded to the outstanding freshman of the College of Arts and Science and within the Chapter the outstanding member and pledgee are presented with inscribed tokens of their special merit. Among their activities this year were: the annual Thanksgiving and New Year's parties, a Koifee Klotch to which members of the faculty were invited, InterfFraternity athletics, membership in the Essex County Young Adult Council and the traditional athletic rivalry with other chap' ters of Beta Sigma ,Rho at Columbia and the University of Pennsylvania. The membership of the council is composed of two representaf tives from each fraternity. Among the athletic activities sponsored and con- ducted by the .council are intramural leagues intouch foot- ball, softball, basketball, and bowling which was recently introduced. Trophies are awarded to the outstanding teams who participate in these intramural sport events. At least once every year, the council sponsors an- interffraternity dance which is open to any student of the Newark Colleges of Rutgers University. I33

Delta Sigma Pi was established to foster the study of business subjects in universitiesg to encourage scholarship and the association of students for their mutual advancement by research and practiceg to prof mote closer aiiiliation between the commercial world and students of commerce and to further a higher standard of commercial ethics, culture and civic welfare within the com' munity. During the past year Delta Sigma Pi had an active schedule of educational, social, and athletic events. Included were the Founder's Day formal dance, initiation dinners, and the Annual Spring.Formal dance. Monthly professional meetings were held to which prominent business leaders were invited as guest speakers.
