We, the Class of 1950, were the first to enter and graduate from the Newark Colleges of Rutgers University since the merger of Newark University with Rutgers University in 1946. It can be said, too, that the Class of 1950 did not accept, passively, the name Rutgers, rather, we attempted to meet it with achievements. During our matriculation we were instrumental in increasing the number of student organizations from thirteen to forty-three. We aided in the establishment of the Student Lounge and were, for the most part, responsible for the cafeteria. Since our freshman year, we have seen our college campus grow from one building, housing three schools, to a campus consisting of ten buildings. We have seen the enrollment grow from eight hundred in 1946 to two thousand three hundred in 1950. We have enjoyed the additions of a Chemistry Laboratory, a Biology Labora- tory and an expanded library. We hope future classes will continue to add to the prestige of Newark Rutgers by following our example in maintaining student - faculty - administration co-operation, and in hard work.
