Ullll ' CHESS ULUB The Queen's Men Chess Club has developed a line team of students adept in the playing of this ancient game. Friendly play and instruction are the programs for weekly meetings. This year competitive matches with the Faculty have been held as well as matches with Princeton, Seton Hall, Fordham, Stevens Institute of Technology, and Newark College of Engineering. Doctor Frederick J. Gaudet, of the Stevens Institute of Technology, spoke on hypnosis. Doctor Samuel Kutash, serv' ing the Veterans' Administration in Newark, discussed the projective techniques used in psychology. Films explaining the procedures of hypnotism and its use in clinical work proved to be interesting and entertaining. V , ,W CIE UE UUIETY Presenting programs of lectures, movies and field trips, the Science Society introduces the student to the wide range of job possibilities in the scientific Held and, also, affords the opportunity to hear outstanding scientists and lecturers discuss the problems in their respective Helds. The programs this year included discussions on medicine, geology, biology and ichthyologyf Dr. Frank Ford' of St. Michael's Hospital spoke on the problem of cancer, its preventitivies and treatment, and films from the American Cancer Society were shown on this topic. Other speakers included Dr. Sidney Greenfield, of the faculty who led a discussion following the film The Nutrient Deficiences in Plant Life, Dr. Aronson of the Museum of Natural History, who spoke on the Studies on the Reproductive Behavior of Fish, Dr. M. johnson, State Geologist, who discussed the mineral geology of New Jersey, Dr. Hollander of Mt. Sinai Hospital, who presented the Problem of Gastroflntestinal Ulcers, and Dr. B. Carroll who discussed Atomic Energy. The annual dinner in May closed the season.
