EWMA CL ll Organized for the primary purpose of stimulating the inf tellectual, social and religious development of the Catholic student, the Newman Club has engaged in a variety of activities including two formal Communion Breakfasts, a joint picnic with the Newman Club at New Brunswick, two basketball teams in the school's intraf mural league, and a bowling group. The highlight of the year was a threefday Province Convention held in New York City where-many members heard Monsignor Fulton J. Sheen speak at the Communion Breakfast held at the Waldorf' Astoria and later attended the afternoon dance in the ballroom of the same hotel. OFFICERS President ...... ............... M SIC Student interest in good music is the watch' word of the Music Society. At its weekly meet' ings the group attempts to introduce the listener to the enjoyment of classical music. Recordings of popular operas such as the Cavalleria Rusticana and La Boheme were part of this year's program. Before the Christmas holidays the group journeyed to New York to hear a pres' entation of Handel's Messiah. PIIUTUGIRAPHY UL R This year, the Photography Club instituted a program that was of interest and benefit to all shutter bugs, from the fellow who operates the simple box camera to the Owner of the complex 35 mm. or Speed Graphic camera. Each month discussions, led by competent members of the club, were held beginning with i'Darkroom Technif ques and advancing to the more diflicult topics of lighting and composition. In addition there were field trips for shots on location and a Best Photo of the Month contest. A photo contest open to the entire school, with photographic equipment offered as prizes, climaxed the year's activities. OFFICERS President .,,... ....,.........
