P' Seniors Serenade GLEE CLUB Under the direction of Mr. Alfred Mann the Glee Club has become a familiar group at parties held through- out the school year rendering their very beautiful and well rehearsed selections to an enthusiastic audience. The group prepares'these pieces at its weekly meetings. This iseason's program of activities began at Fresh- man Orientation and was continued at a Sunday meeting of the English Club, the Women's Association Christmas Party, Class Nite and Baccaleureate Services. The event of the year was the group's participation in the Bach Festival, broadcast over station WNJR, where they rendered two of' Bach's Compositions, the Bach Cantata, and the Buxtehude Cantata. Herbert Woodward, Robert Bates GEULIIGY CLUB One of the newest organizations at Newark Colleges is the Geology Club, having been formed in the fall of'this year. The group was started to promote interest in the field of geology, and at the present time consists of all geology majors but it is hoped that next year will find students in other Helds joining the organization. The activities of the club included open meetings featuring movies obtained from the U. S. Department of the Interior and a talk on evolution by Dr. Horace E. Wood 2nd, of the faculty. Regular bifmonthly informal meetings are held in the geology laboratory. Many of the members attended the annual spring Held trip and all attended the Science Society meeting featuring Meredith johnson, N. J. MATIIEMATIC CL B The Mathematics Club was organized in 1948 to afford to those students interested in mathematics the unusual and interesting concepts not uncovered during the class period. A program was established whereby capable club members might aid their classmates who were deficient in mathematical ability. A series of three lectures were held during the spring term: The first conducted by Professor Richard Henry and the Mathematics Staff on Mathematics in College? , the second, Logic in Mathematics, by Mr. Charles Biederman, and the third by William Van Hassel, the club president, on Tricks in Mathematics.
