'By sponsoring projects such as the slogan contest for basketball games, the out' standing essmbef' trophy a W a r d, t h e Campus Queen Contest, and a Commuter survey for lower transportation rates, the OBSERVER gave impetus to much school spirit.

AMERICA CEMICAL 0Clll'l'Y A student aliiliate chapter of the parent organization, the American Chemical Society has fostered interest in scientific inquiry, research, the dissemination of knowledge among the members of the Society, the presentation of student papers, and the application of chemistry to our daily life. The Society has planned its activities to aid the members in acquiring necessary prefprofessional experience. Guest speakers were Professor Gilbert Panson, who gave a talk on colloidal electrolytes, Mr. Hammond, of Heydon Chemical Co., who discussed the theory and practice involved in syn- thetic organic chemistry and Professor Carl Olson who spoke to the members on the functions and the adminitrative capaci- ties of the American Chemical Society. A technical film I08 revealed the' problems confronting the chemist in the field of synthetic and natural rubber.
