MA AGEME T CL B The Newark Chapter of the Society for Advance' ment of Management organized as the Managament Club in 1947, has attempted to provide the student with an opporf tunity for selffdevelopment and to expose him to the pracf tical as well as theoretical aspects of management. To help fulfill these aims the group took field trips to Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, to view the Bethlehem Steel Plant in operation and to Eddystone, Pennsylvania, to see the Baldwin Loco- motive Works. The program for the year also included many guest speakers. A few were John Whitmore, of the Public Rela- tions Council, Parvin Russell, Director of College Place' ment for the New Jersey Bell Telephone Company, Richard Dorian, Past President of the Society for Advancement of Management, and Bernard Haldane, President of Executive Job Counselors, Inc. A field trip to General Motors Corporation is being planned. OFFICERS Fall Term President .......... ............. J oseph Urbanczyk Vice-President ......... ...... Through the use of films, Held trips, and speakers, such as Mr. Philip Applegard of the Alumni Associf ation, Mr. Serge Morosoni of Paciiic Mills, Mr. M. C, Died' rich of Diedrich Advertising Service, Dr. Herman C. Nolen of McKesson Ez? Robbins, and Mr. J. Leo Cooke of Lehigh Warehouse E5 Transport Company, discussing advertising, wholesaling, retailing, and selling, the club has in some measure bridged the gap between the classroom and the business world. Many questions were considered, including the very practical ones of job possibilities, requirements, and compensation. Recently, the Club became a student chapter of the Amer' ican Marketing Association and now membcrs have available to them, at low cost, THE IOURNAL OF MARKETING, a valuable aid to people interested in this Held. Besides assisting the club in its objectives and activities, the A.M.A., through the North Jersey Chapter, gives students an opporf tunity to sit in on lively discussions on marketing by promif nent men in the field.
