Hello everyone, I'm Susanne Waermo and I am an exchange student from Sweden. I just want to thank everybody in Newark and Newark High School who has made my year here so great and meaningful. I want to thank NHS's staff and the teachers who have been understanding and helpful, my friends who have been a support and have made me feel at home. I also want to thank my host family, the Rhodehamels, and my Area representatives, Arlene and Charlie Muphy, for everything they have done for me. 1 will always remember my year in Newark as something bright and great in my life. I had so much fun together with you all. You have taught me so much! I've learned about the Americans, the American culture, and your school system, and even if a lot of things are different from Sweden. I love it here and I will always consider the U.S. as my second home. Love, Susanne Hi! My name is Carin Kolmodin and I am from a town called Katrineholm in Sweden, Europe. I have spent a fascinating, different, and exciting year here in Newark, New York with you. I have seen so much and it has been alot of fun but also a hard time being away from home. I have gotten to know myself and this country’s culture and people. It is a great experience to have living in a different country for a year. I hope my presence here has made you aware about the world around you and the different cultures that exists in it. If you ever have an opportunity to visit Sweden come and say hello and I will show you my country that is beautiful, too. Love, Carin Hi Babe: I'm Martha Vanzquez and I came from a big city called Monterrey, NL in Mexico. 1 came for a whole year to the U.S. to learn your customs and share cultures with you. Even though I have gained about 10 pounds I love your food, everything . .. and junk food. Living here has been a new experience for me. There are lots of things that I've never seen before, like snow! I saw my first snow here in Newark and it was very exciting! I also tried cross country skiing and lots of fun things. At first it was hard because I didn't know anybody, but after a while I got to know everybody in school. They all know my expression: Don't tease me — and with the help of all of my friends and the teachers 1 adapted very fast. It was an outstanding experience and an awesome year here! Thank you all for your friendship, sharing, and caring. I will have lots of memories in my heart that I will keep forever and ever. Thank you very much and don't tease me! (Guess why I put Hi Babe? Because that's how I use to greet everyone in the halls.) With lots of love, Martha 26
