Mr. Thomas has been teaching at Newark Sr. High for fourteen years. He teaches Latin and German 1,2, and 3. Not only is Mr. Thomas a great help academically but he helps with extracurricular activities as well. He has helped with Graduation for the last four years, coached the boys Tennis team, has been an advisor for Boys Service Club, has been an advisor for the Cosmopolitan Club, and is an avid swimming fan. Mr. Thomas attended the Syracuse University and graduated with a BA in History and Latin in 1 9BB. In 1 BBS he graduated with his Masters in Latin from Colgate University. It has been said that music is a universal language. One that is shared by people of all shapes, sizes, colors, religions, and ages. For this reason, the staff of the 1 984 ARCADIAN has chosen music to be the theme of this year's yearbook. As most students and teachers will agree, music plays an important part in everyone's life. Whether it be classical, jazz, country, or good old rock’n roll, music somehow NEWARK HIGH SCHOOL “ turned on my music to. start- the de and. lost myself in a familiar song . -A.; . . ' . ' : • ; • 'Tu.-v: v • -c- touches everyone at some time in his or her life. The staff has taken music and, in some way, applied it to the various activities that occur at Newark High School. The musical theme is exhibited on the divider pages of each section. It can also be seen in the color section where the candid pictures have been arranged as notes on a staff. With the help of advisor Mr. Doyle, photographer Barry Colarocco, and Hunter Publishing Company, this year’s staff has endeavored to make the 1 984 ARCADIAN something in which all Newark students and faculty can take pride. Enjoy. Elizabeth A. Chamberlin
