WE TRIED TO ADJUST TO OUR NEW WAY OF LIFE. WHEN WE WERE SOPHOMORES, WE ELECTED JOHN AS CLASS PRESIDENT. HE WAS OUR CLASS HEAD FOR THE NEXT THREE YEARS. WE WERE WISE FOOLS” AND BEGAN TO FEEL AT HOME AT N.H.S. WHEN WE WERE JUNIORS, WE FELT THE LOSS OF MR. KELLEY, MADE A HIT WITH “CHEAPER BY THE DOZEN” AND WENT ALL OUT FOR “LOVE IS BLUE.” JEFF SAW THE REALIZATION OF HIS DREAM, THE HONOR PASS. A GROUP CALLED THE TINI JUINI BRASS BECAME A SMASHING SUCCESS. AND NOW, WE ARE SENIORS. MISS ROSE CAME TO US FROM ENGLAND, GARY WAS PRESIDENT OF THE STUDENT COUNCIL, AND WE WERE C.W.C. CHAMPIONS. WE GRIEVED THE LOSS OF R.F.K. WE CELEBRATED EIGHTEENTH BIRTHDAYS. THE NEW WING AND GRADE SCHOOL WENT UP. AS WE WALK DOWN THESE NOW FAMILIAR HALLS, WE LOOK AROUND AND SMILE. WE GET A FUNNY FEELING INSIDE WHEN WE STAND TO SING THE “ALMA MATER” FOR THE LAST TIMES. WE GET THE FEELING THAT N.H.S. HAS PUT SOMETHING INTO EVERY ONE OF THESE FOUR YEARS THAT WE WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO FORGET. NO MATTER HOW LONG AND HARD WE HAD TO WORK. AS WE ANXIOUSLY AWAIT GRADUATION, WE HOPE THAT ALL THE GRADUATING CLASSES THAT FOLLOW US MAY FEEL THE SAME AS WE DO NOW . . . WE ARE AS YOUNG AS OUR FAITH . . . AS OLD AS OUR DOUBT; AS YOUNG AS OUR HOPE . . . AS OLD AS OUR DESPAIR. SO LONG AS OUR HEARTS RECEIVE THE MESSAGES OF BEAUTY, HOPE. CHEER, COURAGE, GRANDEUR, AND POWER FROM THE EARTH . . . FROM MEN... AND FROM GOD ... SO LONG WE ARE YOUNG.' SEASONS CHANGE WITH THE SCENERY; LEAVING TIME IN A TAPESTRY. Notre-Dame of Paris' “How do you like it here, Pat?” I cannot remember how many times I have heard this question. But all the year long I have been answering the same: the truth: “Very much. It’s great, it’s interesting, it’s new, it’s fun, it’s easy!” And I have discovered that the AFS says something true and useful: “Walk together, talk together, O you people on the earth; then and only then shall you have peace.” When in July I’ll return to my town, L ’HAY-LES-ROSES, a suburb of Paris very well known for its roses. I'll miss very much NEWARK, and the WEMETTS who are making my stay here so nice. I’ll miss many other people, and among them all the true friends I have been making through this year. But I’ll be happy at the same time, because I'll bring back home new modern ideas, a new way of seeing the events, and the hope of seeing you again here or there . . . PATRICE PRENASSI 64 Good-bye, but not adieu. —PAT— “One of the numerous rose arbors in L’Hay.” 65 SENIOR DIRECTORY ALBRECHT. RODERICK January 26 Design and build racing motorcycles ALBERTS.
