That year we all took an educational trip to Cooperstown, Niagara Falls, Allegheny State Park, or the Thousand Islands. Our student council representative was Don Carr. Eighth grade brought new experiences. This was the first year some of our classmates participated in the Class Plays. Ours was a variety show taking place in Club 57. We also joined new clubs. Among these were Scitamard and Junior G.A.C., and we also had the Nuts and Bolts of 109. Our Student Council representative was Dudley Hallagan, and our color guard and standard bearer were Gail Smith and Dave Peters. Freshman year — our first year of senior high School. One of our first jobs was the election of our class officers. Dave Peters was elected President; DonCarr, Vice-President; Pat McKeon, Secretary; and Ann Smith, Treasurer. Dave Peters was our Freshman representative on the Student CounciL Our class again participated in the Class Plays. This year we presented a melodrama, Curse You, Jack Dalton, which was directed by Barbara Lee Meyers, an upper-classman. We word Our color guard and standard bearer were Nancy Swain and Steve DeNageL Sophomore year brought many more extra-curricular activities, and we all were kept very busy. Our officers were: Walt DeRidder, President; Ed Thomson, Vice-President; Jean VanParys, Secretary; and Don Carr, Treasurer. Walt DeRidder was our Student Council Representative, and Gail Smith and Dave Peters were our color guard and standard bearer. r 6 6visors FIRST ROW: DeNagel, Treasurer; Plyter, Secretary Carr, President; Miss L'Amoreaux. SECOND ROW Mr. Munson, Cole, Vice-President. THIRD ROW Mr. Klossner. Junior year found us all busier than ever. Dave Peters, Bill Cole, Gail Smith, and Pat McKeon participated in the Junior Town Meeting of the Air. These four also represented Newark at the Syracuse Citizenship Conference. It was soon Junior Playtime. The cast and committees were chosen, and rehearsals and work were soon underway for our production of “Meet Me in St. Louis.” Term papers and class rings were big events in our junior year. We were the first class to have N.C.S. put on our rings. The perfect end to a wonder year was our Junior Prom. Ann McCusker was chosen queen and Martha Livingston was her attendant. Our officers for the year were: Ed Thomson, President; Mike Nash, Vice-President; Pat McKeon, Treasurer; and Elaine Plyter, Secretary. Our Student Council representative was Ed Thomson and our color guard and standard bearer were Pat McKeon and Dave Peters. All too soon we became seniors. It was hard to believe that we were spending our final year in the halls of Newark Central School, so, naturally, we set out to make this year the best. We elected our officers: Don Carr, President; Bill Cole, Vice-President; Elaine Plyter, Secretary; and Steve DeNagel, Treasurer. Gail Smith and Dave Peters reigned as our color guard and standard bearer and Don Carr was our Senior representative on the Student CounciL Under the leadership of Pat McKeon and Dave Peters, the senior class began their year with the magazine drive. Through the co-operation of every member of the class, we exceeded our goal and ended with a grand total of $20,404.34. Joan Beckwith set a new individual record with $1,035.12. Our next big project was our United Nations theme. Before we knew it, it was spring and our Washington trip was upon us. And next — Graduation and our Senior Ball. It is hard to realize that the past six years have gone so fast. They have been busy years and years full of fun. We have all established lasting friendships and have acquired lasting knowledge that will strengthen our life and work in the years to follow. It is hard to leave the halls of Newark Central School, but the memories of life here will live on forever. JACK ALAN ANDREWS Jack's the quiet type;but beware, he's dynamite!
